Apartment cleaning with pets: preparing the home and the appointment
Plan a cleaning visit around pets, occupied rooms, hair buildup and product preferences without assuming pet care or specialist treatment is included.
Include pets in the booking brief
Pets affect the practical plan for a home visit: which doors can be opened, where the cleaner can work and how much hair has collected in accessible areas. Tell the provider what animals live in the apartment and whether they will be present. This is not a request to describe your pet's personality in detail. It is a way to identify the arrangements needed for a calm, workable appointment and to avoid surprises when someone arrives at the door.
Agree who is responsible for the animal
Arrange for a responsible person to manage pets or use a suitable secure area agreed for the visit. Do not assume the cleaner can supervise an animal, prevent it from escaping while carrying equipment, administer medication or provide pet care. Explain doors that must remain closed and rooms that will be excluded. If the pet's safe area is also a room you want cleaned, discuss the sequence beforehand rather than moving the animal into the team's path without warning.
Be specific about hair and affected surfaces
Identify where hair has accumulated: accessible floors, rugs, furniture or bedding. Different surfaces and tasks may require different equipment or a separate service. Upholstery treatment, carpet extraction and washing pet bedding should not be assumed to be part of a standard apartment visit. If buildup is substantial, say so before accepting a quote. Photos can help communicate scope when shared privately and with personal information removed, but they cannot guarantee the result of every treatment.
Discuss products without relying on broad labels
Tell the provider about product preferences or restrictions and provide relevant surface instructions. Terms such as natural, eco-friendly or pet-friendly do not by themselves explain how a product should be used. Ask what arrangements are needed before your pet returns to a cleaned area and follow the applicable product instructions. If a veterinarian has given specific restrictions for your animal, communicate those directly rather than expecting the cleaning team to provide veterinary advice.
Keep the recurring plan realistic
Between appointments, residents remain responsible for pet care and promptly dealing with new messes. Tell the provider in advance about waste, accidents or conditions outside ordinary household cleaning; availability and scope must be assessed before a visit is accepted. Review whether your current frequency and included tasks match actual use of the home. When contacting JPN, include the pet arrangements, affected surfaces and any requested additions so the team can confirm whether the proposed work is suitable.
