Premium cleaning in NYC: a checklist for choosing quality
Premium cleaning is most useful when it describes a clear service rather than a vague promise. Before choosing a cleaner for your New York apartment, ask what will be cleaned, what needs a separate request and how the finished work will be reviewed. A detailed scope makes quotes easier to compare and gives both you and the cleaning team the same expectations.
The short answer
A useful premium cleaning proposal names the tasks, surface-care requirements, exclusions and review process. The word premium alone does not tell you whether appliance interiors, delicate finishes or a particular level of detail are covered. Ask for those details in writing.
At a glance
| Priority | Ask before booking | Agree on |
|---|---|---|
| Detailed kitchen cleaning | Which surfaces and interiors are included? | A task list with separately priced extras |
| Care of finishes | How will my surface instructions be handled? | Materials, product preferences and no-touch areas |
| Building coordination | What entry arrangements must I organize? | Access contact, permitted hours and required documents |
| Reviewing the result | How do I report an omitted task? | A contact and a review of the agreed scope |
Start with the rooms and tasks
For a standard JPN Cleaning appointment, the starting scope covers accessible surfaces, kitchen counters and sink, stovetop and appliance exteriors, bathroom fixtures, mirrors and floors. Bed making uses linens you provide. Your quote should identify the rooms and priorities for your particular home. A room list alone is not enough: a kitchen clean can mean appliance exteriors, while cleaning inside an oven is a separate task to discuss.
Separate care from specialist treatment
Tell us about marble, natural stone, wood, delicate fixtures and any manufacturer care instructions before booking. Share preferred products and areas that should remain untouched. Standard cleaning does not include specialist restoration, polishing or treatment. If a surface needs a specialist assessment, a promise of a spotless finish is not a substitute for confirming the correct scope.
Make the extras explicit
Oven and fridge interiors, cabinet interiors, laundry and organizing are not automatically included. List each requested extra rather than writing only ‘deep clean everything.’ We review whether it can be provided and confirm the agreed work and price before service. Include access limitations, belongings that block surfaces and any areas you do not want entered.
Agree how to review the visit
Choose a few priority areas before the appointment so you can check them afterward against the agreed tasks. For a missed item, JPN Cleaning asks you to call or text within 24 hours with the room and task. We review the concern against the scope and discuss the next step. This process is not a promise that every stain or damaged finish can be corrected by cleaning.
Common questions
Does premium mean every stain will disappear?
No. Cleaning cannot promise to reverse wear, etching or damaged finishes. Describe the concern and identify the material before booking; specialist treatment may be outside the cleaning scope.
What should I check after the visit?
Review the agreed priorities in normal light: accessible kitchen surfaces, bathroom fixtures, mirrors and floors, plus any approved extras. Check against the written scope. A newly noticed task can be discussed separately from a missed agreed item.
Can I request cleaning for a Greenwich Village apartment or a Brooklyn home?
Send the neighborhood and ZIP with your brief. JPN has service pages for Manhattan including Greenwich Village, DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg and Jersey City 07302. Availability and building requirements are confirmed for the specific address.
Make it your own
A brief you can use
Quality brief to adapt: My three priorities are ____, ____ and ____. Surfaces needing special care: ____. Product instructions: ____. Items not to touch: ____. Requested extras: ____. Please identify what is included and how we will review completion.
Adapt these planning fields before requesting a quote. Keep entry codes and other sensitive access details out of public documents.
